The Tulip

The Tulip, one of the earliest of the spring bloomers, is seen in myriad colors and a number of presentations – from standard to fancy to pointed to ruffled to multi-petaled.  It is important with the tulip to let her leaves brown and die back as much as possible before cutting her down at the end of her bloom time.  The bulb draws energy from the sun through the leaves.  This energy sustains the bulb throughout the winter.
